COVID-19 Update and Changes to TWH Operating Procedures

Your dedicated team at Taos Whole Health has continued to think of both your and our community’s safety as we navigate what is an unprecedented event for so many of us.  With the case count continuing to rise, and our first presumptive positive test in Taos, we want to assure you that we are quickly adapting to get ahead of these challenges when possible, and to stay connected with the healthcare community as we work together to address COVID-19. Considering this, we would like to communicate the following:

We are taking every precaution to keep our team and our patients healthy, this means some changes in operating procedures for us:

  • We are aggressively disinfecting all surfaces and shared objects. Your health is our main concern.

  • For your protection, as of last week, we rearranged our waiting room to ensure we are adhering to the recommended social distancing.  It’s looking a lot more open these days!

  • Previously, we allowed co-pays to be paid at the end of the visit. For speedier checkouts and to minimize congestion, you will now pay your co-pays and any balances prior to seeing your provider. The medical assistants will be scheduling any follow up appointments and checking you out while you are still in an exam room. If you do need to purchase supplements, please notify the front desk. If they are attending to other patients, and you are not symptomatic, please have a seat in our waiting room and be patient. If you are symptomatic, we have lovely benches outside and request that you be seated there or in your car.

  • We request that you call ahead at 575.776-7806 or 575.779.6864 if you are coughing or have a fever. When you arrive, please give a call again and wait in your car; someone will be out to triage you. If you don’t have a phone, please knock on the door.

  • If you suspect that you may have coronavirus due to recent contacts or traveling please call the NM Department of Health at 855.600.3453 and they will direct you. Holy Cross Hospital is handling all testing for COVID-19 in the Taos area. None of the private clinics in Taos are equipped with the proper personal protective equipment to swab for COVID-19.

Clinic changes to come:

  • We will be setting up telemedicine soon! This means that if you have an internet connection with a camera and audio, or an iOS or Android device, you will be able to keep your appointments or make new appointments while in self-quarantine. We are working diligently to navigate insurance coverage for telemedicine and will accept all possible telemedicine coverage, however if your insurance provider rejects a telemedicine claim, you are responsible for the cost of your appointment.

  • We know how important your supplement protocol is, so we are working diligently to set up online access to purchase these and have them shipped directly to your home through Wellevate and Fullscripts.

We appreciate your compliance with these measures to keep you and our community as safe as possible. We will reach out anytime there are updates – so stay tuned!
